Common questions
I can’t sign in.
Giani uses Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google. Make sure you’re signed into your Apple ID / Google account on the device, and that you have an internet connection. If it still fails, force quit the app and try again. If that doesn’t help, email us with your device model and iOS version.
My streak disappeared.
Your streak increases on every day you complete the daily set. If you miss a day, the streak resets. Make sure your device’s date and time are set to automatic. If you believe your streak was lost incorrectly, email us with the approximate date and we can look into it.
My rating went down even though I scored well.
Giani uses an Elo-style rating, so your rating moves against the difficulty of the questions rather than against a fixed pass mark. Every question carries its own difficulty, earned from how everyone who has seen it actually performed. A hard question is worth a lot and costs little to miss; an easy one is the other way round.
The part that surprises people: the higher your rating climbs, the more the system already expects you to get right, so the score you need just to hold your position goes up too. On a set of easy questions a strong player can answer most of them correctly and still slip a point or two.
Your Set now picks questions to match your rating, so this should happen far less. As you improve you will notice the questions getting harder and your score settling around three in four rather than near-perfect. That is deliberate: a set pitched at your level tells you more, and it means a good run moves your rating up properly instead of by a point. The daily set is the same five questions for everyone, so that one is not matched to you.
Two other things can leave your rating flat. Redoing a set you have already finished never re-scores it, and only your first three rating-moving sets each day count. Both still build your streak.
I’m not receiving notifications.
Go to iOS Settings → Notifications → Giani and make sure notifications are allowed. You can also turn specific reminders (daily set, word of the day, streak) on / off inside Giani’s Settings screen.
There’s a factual mistake in a question.
Please tell us. Punjabi culture, history, and Sikhi are deep and nuanced, and we want to get it right. Send the question text and a source if you have one to support@giani.app or use in-app feedback.
How do I delete my account and data?
Inside the app: Settings → Delete account. Or email support@giani.app from the address you signed up with. We will delete your profile, question history, rating snapshots, and feedback within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What is Giani Pro?
Pro is optional. It is $9.99/month or $49.99/year, and yearly may start with a 7-day free trial if Apple says you are eligible. While Pro is on, you get unlimited custom sets, unlimited replays per set, and no ads. The Daily set, Pinds, and 1v1 stay free either way. Without Pro, you are back to 1 custom set per day and 1 replay per set per day, plus ads.
How do I cancel Pro?
Cancel anytime in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Pro stays on until the month or year you already paid for ends. Then you drop back to the free caps. Cancel is not a refund — unused days of that period are not paid back. On a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before it ends and you are not charged at all.
Can I get a refund for Pro?
We do not refund Pro. Apple billed it, so Apple decides. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds, Pro turns off. You keep the free app; you do not keep unlimited custom sets, unlimited replays, or no ads. See Cancellation and refunds in the Terms.
Does Giani work without an internet connection?
You need a connection to sign in and to fetch each day’s set. Once loaded, you can usually finish the set offline, and we’ll sync your results the next time you’re online.
